Artist's Description
This is an image of the USS Monongahela, AO-42, a refuel and replenishment ship seen here refueling another ship while underway. Ocean refueling requires two ships to steer to within 50 feet of each other, sometimes in heavy swells, which increases the chances of collision, damage and crew injuries. My father served on this ship just after World War 2, and was his second ship to be assigned to. The first was the USS Ericsson, a destroyer during WW2.
About Duwayne Williams
Duwayne is a contemporary realist artist, specializing in fine art oil paintings and photography. A California native, he majored in Technical Illustration in college, and attributes much of his artistic ability to the early art training he received from his father. In his twenties, he found a love of oil painting. Much of the attention to detail required in his illustration training has been transferred to his paintings.
