I'm a contemporary realist artist, specializing in fine art oil paintings and photography. A California native, I majored in Technical Illustration in college, and I credit much of my artistic ability to the early art training I received from my father. In my twenties, I found a love of oil painting, and much of the attention to detail required in my illustration training shows up in my paintings. Learning by trial and error, I now paint realistic pictures of the best of America, bringing to life traditional landscapes, stately victorian houses, small-town scenes, historical early California and Texas missions, and classic military art. In my paintings, I try to capture the essence of realism, using bold and vivid colors, resulting in what a customer once described as "Imagined Realism". I also try to create uplifting, colorful and emotional artworks.
In addition to art, I also enjoy displaying photo images of many subjects that reflect my vision of the world.
I'm a resident of Santa Clarita, CA, and is a member and past-president of the Santa Clarita Artists' Association, as well as a life member of the Santa Paula Society of the Arts. I'm proud to say that several of my artworks are in private collections.
In addition to being an oil painter, I recently completed a 40+ year career as a US Army helicopter pilot, flying UH-1 Hueys and UH-60 Blackhawks, with two combat tours to Iraq and Kuwait. I'm proud to say I also served with the elite 75th Airborne Rangers, and have published several books about my military experiences, as well as other subjects.
